We Made That

We Made That have been appointed by LB Southwark to guide and develop projects in East Street, Walworth and Old Kent Road. Interventions will include public space improvements, re-occupation of vacant units for flexible workspace, improvements to key buildings, meanwhile activity and a new layout for East Street Market. All are helping to knit together gaps between development sites. 

We are working with long-standing collaborators Maddison Graphic. Our team will also be working closely with local groups and organisations to catalyse and deliver great projects.

We Made That are delighted to be included in New Architects 3. The publication from the Architecture Foundation is ‘the definitive survey of the best British architects to have set up practice’ in the last ten years.

​Our work with HASSELL in Croydon’s South End has been shortlisted for the first RIBA MacEwen Award for ‘architecture for the common good’. The judges were impressed with the results achieved for the modest budget; “To do something with very little is a big deal”, said Steve Martin.

​We Made That, Regeneris Consulting and Aspinall Verdi have been commissioned to research the current and possible future provision of flexible workspaces in the borough of Tower Hamlets. We’re investigating a wide spectrum of spaces, from slick City co-working to hidden hackspaces.

​We are delighted to be working in Burnt Oak with Retail Revival and Maddison Graphic to prepare a town centre strategy for the area. We’ll be thinking about public realm, way finding, the identity of the area and a range of ways to support local businesses.

Practice Manager/ Administrator (Part time)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Practice Manager for our small, growing architecture and urbanism practice. Our projects are diverse and as such, the position of Practice Manager is likely to be an extremely varied role which will include Office Management, HR and Financial Management.

We expect the position to be part time, with an initial commitment of three days per week. There will be flexibility in expected working hours/ days for the right candidate.

Building on recent research into the local business base, ​We Made That are pleased to be working with Regeneris Consulting to develop proposals to support creative enterprise in the Blackhorse Lane area of Waltham Forest. 

The feasibility will consider how best to grow, maintain and strengthen the creative offer already establishing itself in Blackhorse Lane from a long lineage of industrial making heritage. Challenges such as the level of affordable and appropriate workspace provision will require imaginative solutions that are particular to London’s creative ecology. The work will seek to add detail and definition to the Creative Enterprise Zone with a view to informing initial project development and galvanising partners to participate. 

​Regeneris Consulting and We Made That are hosting a series of workshops to develop an Economic Action Plan for Brixton. These targeted sessions with young people, businesses, social entrepreneurs, cultural groups and landowners will shape a concise set of recommendations to support equitable growth in the future of Brixton’s economy.

Excellent communication skills and a desire to contribute to lively, creative & productive team working required. Experience with Vectorworks and Adobe CS are essential.

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the New London Awards 2015. Our Croydon South End scheme with HASSELL and Objectif for LB Croydon is shortlisted in the public spaces category, and our Blackhorse Lane project for LB Waltham Forest is shortlisted for Masterplans & Area Strategies as well as the Mayor’s Prize for projects that creatively contribute to the capital’s economy.
The winners will be announced at an event on 7th July.

We have recently been engaged by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to develop an urban framework for Plumstead High Street. Our work will include an overarching vision, development scenarios and a strategy for the Council’s property assets and promoting renewed vitality along Plumstead High Street.

We Made That are working with Regeneris Consulting and LB Brent to investigate intensifying uses and unlocking potential in Neasden Town Centre. The work will draw on lessons from our recent work to develop an investment plan for Church End.

We Made That have been commissioned to develop a vision for three key growth areas within the Borough; Alperton, Church End and Burnt Oak & Colindale. Each of the visions will capture a thorough understanding of the existing spatial and socio-economic conditions, describe forthcoming development and identify potential place-specific strategies for transformation. The ambitious, yet deliverable, place-shaping frameworks for these growth areas will be launched later this year.

As part of a team with Regeneris Consulting, We Made That are leading the business engagement and observational mapping across the whole borough. This initiative aims to understand different perspectives on doing business in Waltham Forest, including strengths, weaknesses, and future opportunities and challenges. Our research team is engaging businesses in this conversation throughout April and May 2015.   

This research will help the development of practical actions to ensure that the local economy evolves in a way which allows the Borough’s businesses and communities to flourish and grow. 

We’re inviting people to participate in an initial fact-finding survey to gain a quick and accurate overview of current local business conditions and needs.

Following on from local feedback in February and March, we will be presenting initial ideas for comment and testing opportunities for change as part of a public realm masterplan for Central Street.
